Sketch of the Week: San Diego Comic-Con

I was in San Diego to attend Comic-Con during this summer's Sketchcrawl. This massive event has all things entertainment and pop culture: comics, animation, movies, TV, video games, illustration - you name it!

Part of the fun is watching people in costumes, so some friends of mine and I did quick sketches of cast of characters walking by. I watercolored them and cleaned up the scan after I got back from my trip.

People wearing ordinary clothes with strange things on their heads are the funniest to me, like the bald guy who looked like he had a rolled up T-shirt on his head, or a woman from 2009 Comic-Con with a bag of rice on her head. I love people-watching and people-sketching!

Great sketches! I was at Comic Con too. Really a place of crazy happiness (or happy craziness). Where did you find a place to do the sketches? It was so crowded!

  2. I stepped outside to do my sketches - there were enough characters to keep me busy!
