I like to try out food/snacks sold on the streets, and have started to sketch some food trucks back home in Los Angeles. While I was travelling in Tokyo, I saw a street vendor that is selling unique pastries. The snack looks like a classic Japanese pastry, taiyaki (fish-shaped pastry with golden, crepe-like skin filled with sweet red bean paste), except it uses a soft, chewy dough similar to mochi (rice cake). The snack is called "shiroi taiyaki (white taiyaki)". The version below is served with dried seaweed:(Also posted on Urban Sketchers)
