Sketches from Hawaii

While I was enjoying family time in Hawaii, I managed to sketch a bit in Honolulu. The first sketch is from the International Market Place - an outdoor shopping area surrounding a large, live 100-year old bunyan tree and a waterfall. There are wild birds that live in this tree, and their singing filled the air.

This is a view of the street across the hotel we stayed in Waikiki. The round structure on top of the buiding is a rotating restaurant - a perfect fit for an area filled with tourists. Most buildings on this street look like they were built before 1980s, so there were very few gleaming glass skyscrapers like the ones I've seen in bigger, busier cities - it added to the easygoing mood of my vacation. Aloha!
