Sketch of the Week: Riding on the Metro

I went on an art tour of Expo Metro light rail line, which opened last year and crosses Los Angeles in east-west direction. Our group looked at murals at some stations with the artists who created them. Our guide from the Metro explained that palm trees are planted along each station to mark the location - when the trees are grown, they can be seen from miles away. I jotted some quick vignettes of what I saw along the ride: an Islamic temple at Vermont station, people passing by, houses next to the tracks, and a spectacular view of the clouds along the hills at Culver City station.
